One of the reasons why an Architectural Professional Draughtsperson (or Draughter) is cheaper than an Architect over 80% of all upper Architectural Professions (Senior Technologists or Architects) do not actually draw up a drawing plan themselves. In the eye of Architects any house plan is regarded a minor project, which they don’t ‘have’ time for this small job and usually send it to an architectural draughtsperson, whether he/she is registered with SACAP or not, and as well, whether he/she is professionally qualified or not, however he/she still has a general knowledge and competence in drawing job. In spite of this, any of professional registered architectural professions (including architectural draughtsperson) have equal right drawing up a house plan to Council approval. The key to cut the cost is to pay directly to a registered Draughter, since he/she has equal authority and power as the upper Professional Architect in municipality submissions, and other legal & municipal paper works, including from project & office management to design documentation to construction documentation. The only exception to that is Draughter is unable to do drawing on any major project or larger job e.g. shopping centre, stadium, multi-story building, etc.
