Worst mechanical service I ever experienced!! My wife and I recently moved to Pietermaritzburg from Cape Town. Being new to the town, I was referred to Brian Goble Motors (GBM) to service my vehicle, he was described as a guy that does things properly. I am a firm believer that you should never take shortcuts when working on your car. Here is my experience: Day 1, GBM replaced transmission and differential oil and seals, all things I asked for. Additionally they flushed the coolant system and bypassed the interior heater which developed a leak (safe to do on my vehicle). After collecting the car the engine became way hotter than ever before (110°C instead of 90°C). Day two: Took the car back to GBM to get some guidance on the heating problem; After they drained the coolant again they left me and my wife waiting for almost 2 hours before putting everything together, filling the car with water (not coolant) and telling me to come back tomorrow. On my way home the engine got very hot, I switched the car off just as it approached 120°C. They installed the thermostat the wrong way round effectively blocking the flow of coolant, this could have cause engine failure! Day three: I confronted the owner of BGM and he replied he better walk away from this car and doesn’t want to get involved. What kind of service is that?! Unacceptable I said, you should take responsibility for the work you do. He took another look at the car and ended up asking me to pick-up the car without fixing anything, obviously after I paid almost R4000 for the first job. After asking some friendly locals about their experience with GBM, they testified that he is way too expensive and doesn’t have the customer’s best interest at heart. SO much for my referral! Therefore, he will never see me, my friends and I’m hoping anyone that reads this review, ever again!
