Review about United Parcel Services Ups - Cape Town, Cape Town

Doing business with UPS in SOUTH AFRICA is Terrible !! Nothing short of a horrible experience! On 12 Dec 2023: I sent my daughter and g.daughter a Christmas parcel from Texas USA. It consisted of a some T-Shirts, a couple of caps, Christmas candies, Festive Tea-towel + Oven Mitts and a few other inexpensive Christmas trinkets. Total value $94 dollars. Shipping fees via UPS was much more at $133 for delivery within 3 to 5 business days. (no problem, it was the surprise that mattered most). Within a matter of hours of my package entering into the UPS system, my daughter forwarded me an email from UPS in SOUTH AFRICA who was demanding R1894 to be paid into the South Africa UPS bank account for customs charges before the parcel could be released !!! The demand notice included formal looking documents from Customs control but dated October 25/2023. Note I only shipped this package on Dec 10/2023 !!! Hence, my pleasant Christmas surprise to my family was ruined ! My daughter was now in a panic because she didn't have that short of money lying around. I immediately contacted UPS here in Texas and explained everything. Ironically at this stage the package was still in cross Atlantic air. It had not even arrived in SA yet. UPS understood exactly what was going on. FRAUD ... CORRUPTION .. and THEFT. by some despicable (BBE employee). UPS Texas assured me they are looking into the matter. With in minutes I received a call back from our UPS USA international agents who told me she herself is tracking the package and that I will hear back from her in 72 hrs. Most interesting: This morning 15 Dec 2023, I checked the tracking number and I see it is ON ROUT and will be delivered by END OF DAY !!!! TO SOUTH AFRICA UPS: PLEASE MONITOR YOUR EMPLOYEES ... what happened here is terrible you must get rid of the corruption it is your obligation!!
