Review about Xylonor 2 Training, Centurion
8 years ago
I like to ensure that I maintain a healthy balance between my personal and professional life. This helps me to maintain a high level of performance at work. I would say that I am a reliable hard-working person who always looks for ways to improve. I am very flexible and I fully understand that the role will require me to be available when required. In general I am a very dedicated person that deliver tasks within allocated timeframes where my previous manager can give proof. In the past 30 years I were basically exposed to the rail environment where I did deliver training to different people in different positions. This is where I deliver training to learners for theoretical and then there after also for practical assessments. Sometimes it was only necessary to facilitate learners but it was mostly training where I make use of learner guides and also of activity work books to allow preparation (pre-assessments) of the knowledge transferred. In the classroom I use different training methodologies to constantly keep learners involved. This is compulsory especially with adult learning. During practical preparation I did mostly make use of standard operating procedures and also physically give exposure to certain procedures. Here we mostly make use of a tick list to ensure a high standard of performance and knowledge obtained. I were also used to deliver induction courses whenever new people or contractors need to visit certain areas where there are restrictions involved. I also work in the construction environment during the building of the tracks for the Gautrain project. This unfortunately was also mostly rail related since there I also need to give training on locomotives and relative operating procedures. I was also send to London and derby where I also get a glimpse of training abroad when I learned to also drive the Gautrain but mostly to conduct assessments on technical personnel during execution of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks. When conducting such assessments these learners must always withdraw latest procedures from a computerised system to follow this process to prevent injuries especially with electrified components. Safety was one of the most important issues that needs to be adhered to. In this environment I was also exposed to training of equipment inside workshops because these learners must also make use of overhead cranes, scissor jacks and fork lifts. Whilst conducting practical assessments one of the most important factors was to ensure that these learners wear their personal protective equipment / clothing. To allow me to conduct assessments I am registered with the TETA SETA as assessor. My last 5 years I worked as Curriculum Specialist to develop different types of training materials. These includes area process training, standard operating procedures, standard maintenance procedures, learner guides, Activity workbooks and Assessor guides. On the assessment side I also develop final integrated summative assessments for final practical assessments to be used by assessors. I also created questions to be used in electronic assessments where I did make use firstly of the ICAS approach but later on of the Question mark Perception method. Transnet Freight Rail did make use of ICAS but then they changed to the QMP provider. The most used questions were True/False, multiple choice and multiple correct questions. Later certain other questions like drag and drop and matching questions were added. These questions were compiled and then inserted into an electronic assessment with the scoring outcome. Normally before any training materials were developed we must firstly conduct a training analyses to ensure that the material are developed for the correct target group. Before handover to the steak holder the complete development must be tested where we make use of a pilot course to ensure that this is fair, reliable and effective. Finally then it would be handed over for use by the stake holders.
