Mgitshwa High draw students from as far as Esikhawini, Eshowe because of its strategic location. It's located in a historical site of 'girls' pool' (ichibi lezintombi), which was a traditional bath pool for young women during the times of Shaka. The school's infrastructure has undergone tremendous changes and development under SV Gazu who errected a razor wire fencing, ZF Nhlabathi who renovated classes and built a Computer room, and VB Mhlongo who constructed Administration block and replaced a razor fencing with concrete slabs. Most importantly, the school has produced outstanding persona including teachers, physicians, accountants to name a few. The staff members, against all the odds of societal pressures, strive to uplift the academic output of the school and to maintain relevance in education and impact in the community.
