Review about Soli Deo Gloria Boutique Hotel, Randburg
I was a guest in SOLI DEO GLORIA, Boundary Road, Northriding from May 27th to June 11th, 2011. I was supposed to stay the whole month of June with my family (including my wife and my little daughter of 6 yrs age), because I was emigrating overseas from South Africa at month end. Unfortunately, I was forced to leave on June 11th. My fault was that I complained about their indefinite power failure which included overnight power cuts. I later learned (from a friendly front desk person) that SOLI DEO GLORIA – is not covered by Eskom but by City power. They have a generator which they only keep on until 10 PM in the night. They don’t bother to notify their guests before switching off the generator. We had to go hungry one night as we couldn’t warm up the frozen meal which we ordered from their kitchen. On requesting Quintos (part owner of the property), he very rudely told us that we should have eaten before 10 PM. The next day when we further complained that we were not happy with the service, he gave us a two day notice period to leave his property. This lead to an argument between us and the “actual owner” of the property (a very aggressive young man) whose name I couldn’t register rudely barged in (using the F-word) and asking me what the F… I was doing in his property? He even said that we were “privileged customers” since he did us a favor by giving us a monthly rate, and that he did us a favor by letting us use his kitchen (of-course which we paid for all meals..). In the owners own words, if we paid 1000 bucks a day, we would get the deserved respect – note a thousand bucks for a place where I couldn’t take a shower for two days (no water) and no power for 2 days In my honest opinion, SOLI DEO GLORIA –is owned and operated by ego centric maniacs who control their property and treat their guests (i.e. privileged guests like us) like intruders. If one pays a lot of money, he will get respect.
