Care is given in the patient’s own home, backed up by our inpatient unit and local health facilities. We are committed to the training and development of our staff, volunteers, other health carers and the community. Kingfisher House provides the community SCH serves with 8 beds. This unit serves as a backup for both ICHC and urban home care. Patients are also referred by private GP’s, Government clinics and hospitals. It also backs up our training department by providing a rich clinical placement experience. The unit enables us to give patients in need specialised palliative care to improve their quality of life and to restore their dignity. We are one of only 4 hospices in KwaZulu-Natal with an in-patient unit and the only centre that offers specialised palliative care in the UGU district.
