Superior Timber Simplex Chalets / Self-catering - Sea Facing (Sleeps 4 persons maximum) Situated on the mountainside with spectacular views of the village, lake and ocean, very private and ideal for families or honeymoon couples. Due to the location of the suites, there are approximately 130 to 140 steps to climb up the boardwalk from the parking area. A Porterage service is provided and the view is worth the climb. Superior Timber Duplex Chalets / Self-catering ¿ Sea Facing (Sleeps between 4 and 6 persons maximum) Situated on the mountainside with spectacular views of the village, lake and ocean, very private and ideal for families or honeymoon couples. Depending on the location of each suite, there may be between 10 to 120 steps to climb up the boardwalk from the parking area. Duplex suites may be taken as a 1- or 2-bedroom unit. ¿ Close to lots of tourist attractions: Map of Africa, Wilderness National Park, Monkeyland, Knysna Elephant Park and many more.

Of course it is a huge risk to be the most affordable accommodation in George. Instead of interesting (No! They do not find weed smoking drunks interesting), adventurous, articulate, intelligent, civilized, well educated, responsible, well read, eccentric, soft spoken, budget travellers that they try to attract they might end up with the 'cheap-accommodation-seekers-squad' (people throwing empty coke tins from their car windows). Since the focus in a travel lodge is on the communal areas (TV room, kitchen and braai) where all the guests can meet, socialise and philosophise about sophisticated topics the 'cheap-squad' will hopefully soon feel out of touch. Outeniqua Travel Lodge is meant for people who are willing to lose the chocolate on the bed and rather spend money on a bottle of quality wine and happy laughter. Although the 3 star grading is an indication that you will probably not catch any nasty diseases, travel lodges have always been more concerned about vibe and atmosphere than 3-ply toilet paper. They are licensed to sell liquor but the guests are not licensed to misbehave once they've indulged. At Outeniqua Travel Lodge they offer daytrips to the Cango Caves, ostrich farms and all other gems of the Klein Karoo. You are free to make up your own itinerary for the day. Dawie, the owner, will drive you around in safety and air-conditioned comfort. They also provide travellers transport to the most romantic little bay and surfing beach in the world, Victoria Bay. Victoria Bay is only a 10 minute drive from Outeniqua Travel Lodge. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Outeniqua Mountains on a bicycle. Cycle down the historic Montagu Pass (completed in 1844) back to Outeniqua Travel Lodge. It is a 15km trip of which 95% is downhill. On a warm day go for a paddle on the Kaaimans River. An 80m paddle with the canoe brings you to a beautiful waterfall or a 500m paddle takes you to the famous Kaaimans bridge where the river flows into the Indian ocean.

We have chalets sleeping two, four and six people. All chalets are free standing spacious log cabins with private entrances and have wooden decks overlooking the natural scenic surroundings and the Outeniqua Mountains. Eight of the chalets have fireplaces and all chalets have their own braai facilities. 14 of the 16 the log wood chalets are self catering, and these units are serviced daily. 2-Sleeper Chalets (not self catering) Not suitable for self catering with a double bed, open living area, tea and coffee making facilities only, bathroom (shower and bath) and braai outside (no fire place). Self Catering 2-Sleeper Chalets One double bed, kitchen, separate lounge, (2 sleeper couches for kids no extra cost), fireplace, bathroom (shower) and braai outside. Self Catering 4-Sleeper Chalets With 2 bedrooms (one bedroom has double bed the other has 2 single beds), lounge, kitchen, bathroom (shower) fireplace, and braai outside. Self-Catering 6-Sleeper Cottages With 2 bedrooms (one bedroom with double bed, the other with 2 single beds and bunk bed), lounge, braai, bathroom (shower), no fireplace. The kitchens in the chalets are equipped with a fridge, 2 plate stove, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery. We provide all linen and towels. Wood can be purchased on site for fire places and braais. Our retreat can sleep 70 people and our restaurant can cater for up to 70 people. We are also a family friendly establishment; ideal for families wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of ordinary life in order to spend quality family time in a safe environment for the kids without any TV¿s interrupting communications, and romantic escapes for leisure time for couples in front of wood fires in the chalets with a good bottle of red wine.
