I have been in private practice for almost 20 years in the Westville/Highway area. I obtained a Masters in Counselling Psychology at UKZN. I work within a cost-effective, short-term, solution-focused framework and I am contracted into medical aids. Divorce and Family Mediation: I am also trained in divorce and family mediation. As time has passed, it has become apparent just how detrimental an acrimonious divorce can be on parental and parent-child relationships, leading to a host of psychological disorders and stunted psychological development in both the children and parents involved. Usually a couple separate attorneys each hoping to get the best settlement deal that they can. Often the legal bills and emotional distress begin to overwhelm the family. The divorce mediator assists the couple in making decisions regarding the division of assets, maintenance, and parenting. It removes the painful win-lose atmosphere that is often created in adversarial divorces. The process minimizes emotional trauma, and creates a co-operative atmosphere to co-parent healthy children.
