Usually a couple separate attorneys each hoping to get the best settlement deal that they can. Often the legal bills and emotional distress begin to overwhelm the family. The divorce mediator assists the couple in making decisions regarding the division of assets, maintenance, and parenting. It removes the painful win-lose atmosphere that is often created in adversarial divorces. The process minimizes emotional trauma, and creates a co-operative atmosphere to co-parent healthy children.
