We have been riding at the Voortrekker Monument twice whilst visiting from England and we love it! The Cape ponies are really well behaved and it is nice to have a canter in the African Sunshine! The best bit was the first time we visited and was joined on our ride by some wild Zebra!!!!! That is not something you can experience in England.

Description
Cape Riding Horses are known for their loving nature, trustworthiness as well as hardness. We have 20 Cape Riding Horses at the Voortrekker Monument Nature Reserve in Pretoria. We also have a riding facility situated close to Rietvleidam near Irene. Here we currently keep 30 Cape Riding Horses.
Company description
The purpose of the outrides, is to make more people aware of the type of horse we are breeding. During the Anglo Boer war, about 500 000 horses were killed.
We are attempting to re-establish this endemic horse breed in South Africa. We also endeavor to expose people to the exhilarating experience of riding a well-trained horse on open ground.
The VTM is also our selling point for the Cape Riding Horse.
We offer scenic outrides to the public, fun & relaxation for beginner to novice riders, canter rides for intermediate to experienced riders and the obstacle course for the more experienced rider. Different courses are also available to improve a rider's abilities or to learn more about the horses.
