Absa - Vredenburg

Good Day I am a very unhappy client, my grandmother bamks with ABSA and has been using your bank for more than 20 years. Unfortunately my grandmother has become one of South Africa's crime statistics as she got robbed, she went to you Vredenburg branch to do a cash withdrawal and the service she received was HORRENDOUS! An extremely old rude lady who should absolutely NOT be assisting elderly people chased away my grandmother because she did not know her ID number - Now tell me ABSA where does it state for me to be assisted I NEED TO HAVE MY ID NUMBER MEMORIZED? Because according to the extremely rude white lady my grandmother is illiterate and will be refused entry into the bank because she can not remember her ID number! The values on your website state that you are "obsessed with the customer" and "We outperform by going beyond customer expectations" but would you say that type of service corresponds with your values ? Disgraced and disgusted that you are appointing people who do not have customer's best interest at heart. My grandmother was at your Vredenburg branch and i am sure it will be easy for you to locate who we are referring to, i want a formal apology from the lady that was assisting my grandmother and i want disciplinary action taken as this is not the first or the last time she treats someone this way.

I have been dealing with ABSA Vredenburg for more than 2 decades now and I am no longer impressed. I've been considering complaining for very long now as I don't like complaining, but it is time now. The first complaint is regarding their phone lines. For a start, when phoning the branch, it takes forever for someone to answer the switchboard and when someone eventually does and you get put through to the requested extension and there is no answer (which is the case most of the times), no one gets back to you to take a message. You sit with the phone against your ear forever just to eventually put it down and phone again for the same situation. The second irritation is that too often I go to the tellers just to find that only one teller is open for business while the others are closed and busy doing something for the bank (they all have boards in front of them that they write on) behind there counters. There were even times that I stood waiting and eventually left the bank without being assisted to come back the next day. It is very annoying and I have heard other customers complain as well.
