What constitutes a successful investigation still confuses many investigators Our highly experienced Vehicle Theft Investigators are able to fairly and accurately assess any motor vehicle theft claim. We have various sources from which we draw information to aid us in our investigation process. SAPS - Circulation printout - Checked for the date, time and place of loss, whether the engine and chassis numbers correspond with the registration detail, who is noted as the compliant and owner etc. We also ensure the particular insurer’s interest has been recorded on the circulation / SAPS records. - Enquiry done with investigating officer ensuring the correct vehicle details are circulated and relevant statements made are obtained to compare with information given on the claim form - Letter of non-recovery E-Natis - Printout is obtained to establish owner, titleholder, and date of first registration, previous owners, vehicle license details, whether the vehicle is financed and other vehicles owned by the registered owner Factory Enquiry - A factory enquiry is done on the vehicle to confirm engine and chassis numbers, vehicle details and date of manufacture Mead & McGrouther - Printout indicating the trade and retail value of the vehicle is obtained Finance House - De-registration certificate and settlement figures obtained Credit Bureau - Enquiry is done on the driver and/or insured in order to determine whether possible financial problems exist. All information is used in conjunction with the assessors statements taken from the insured, last driver and witnesses pertaining to the circumstances surrounding the loss as well as the photos and inspection sheet from the inspection of the scene of the crime.
