Physiotherapist use a technique called Myofascial release to lengthen, break down and tear part of the fascia down in order to get better movement across certain areas. This makes movement less taxing and frees up soft tissue to move. With better movement, muscles can generate force with less effort, tendons can glide effortless, joint's range of movement improves and better blood supply to deeper structures. Forces run along specific myofascial lines and sometimes it feels like knots form inside muscles. This high concentration of forces along a specific line can increase the likelihood of these restriction in the fascia forming. Myofascial tissue is a web-like structure that runs between muscles, tendons, bone and organs. This tissue can become tight in certain areas that cause movement restriction.
