BKB was formed on 1 July 1975 with the amalgamation of three farmers’ organisations, namely Farmers’ Co-operative Wool and Produce Union Limited (FCU), Boere-Saamwerk Beperk (BSB) and Koöperatiewe Wolmaatskappy Beperk (KWB). FCU was established in 1919, BSB in 1920 and KWB in 1927. Boeremakelaars (Koöperatief) Beperk was registered in 1975. The Company’s business in broad outline entails the handling and marketing of agricultural products; wool, mohair and livestock on behalf of its shareholders and clients, the provision of farming requisites and the rendering of services related to activities. Excess warehouse space is leased or otherwise utilised for warehousing. Recently our services were extended to include grain marketing and storage. BKB has an experienced business infrastructure. The wide clientele is built on producer and seller trust and a sound relationship with the Breeders’ Societies. Further strengths include the ISO 9002 accreditation, the exclusive use of the AWEX-ID information and report system, the Talman system, access to foreign markets, diversity and business adaptability.
