Cedar Garden has 6 bedrooms of which three are en suite. Double or single beds are available and linen, towels and toiletries are provided. To keep the winter chill at bay, electric blankets, heaters and hot water bottles are available. The lounge has a fireplace and DSTV. On Site Nearby The Sani Pass is an experience not to be missed. A 4x4 is required, but if you do not have your own, we can organise a trip up with one of the tour operators. Enjoy a drink at the highest pub in Africa at 2 874m. The Pass is the only access route between KwaZulu-Natal and Lesotho. (Don't forget your passports!) The Sani Pass and surrounds offer some 'special' and endemic birding - Drakensberg Rockjumpers, Mountain Pipits and Drakensberg Siskins. Guided birding tours and guided hikes to the Bushman paintings can also be arranged through us. A favourite hike is to the 'Marching Men' site on the Khanti, a hike of about 5 hours. Visit the historical Himeville Museum which was built in 1900 as the last of Natal's loop-holed forts before housing prisoners until 1972. An open-air exhibition of settler and agricultural history is surrounded by display rooms housing military, African traditional and even trout fishing memorabilia. The museum is also home to a valued collection of San artefacts. Guests are welcome to join us in the lounge at any time, and on chilly winter nights there will be a cosy fire, sherry and good company. Our rooms are smoke free. Secure off-road open parking and 4 shaded bays. 3 double bunks, linen and towels provided, with a cosy fireplace. Braai facilities, kettle, (coffee, tea, sugar and milk), bar fridge, double hot plate, crockery and cutlery. Ablutions consists of double shower, basin and separate toilet. Breakfast and dinner available on request. There are five restaurants / pubs within 5km of Unter The Berg, or if you would like to stay in for dinner, we have braai/webber facilities. Dinners and picnic baskets arranged by prior arrangement.

Discover the secret beauty of San rock art, where we boast one of the biggest paintings of Eland in the Southern Hemisphere. Scout around for wild flowers, or visit the vulture restaurant, perchance catching a glimpse of the lammergeyer. The black eagle, osprey and marsh harrier are also resident at Penwarn. Go hiking and take in the scenery of our magnificent mountains that are a World Heritage Site. Conferences are held in our Conference Centre which accommodates 30 delegates.
