Property Practitioners Act 2019

The long-awaited Property Practitioner Act 22 of 2019 (the “Act”) came into operation on the 1st of February 2022. The Act has brought significant changes to the property sector. Amongst others, the Act recognise the need for transformation within the property sector and the protection of consumers.

The estate agent must by law obtain a property condition report.
But do the seller or the estate agent have the technical background or training to identify the defect?

The estate agent or the seller would know that the roof is leaking but will not know the extent of is leak or that there could be a bigger problem at hand
