South Africa, Cape Town – Springleap.com is bringing back its popular “King of Comments, Queen of Quotes” competition, which rewards creative writing and critique, and encourages online community involvement.
This monthly competition encourages online community members to get involved in the creative processes of creating, developing and crowdsourcing top t-shirt designs for the ongoing competitions run on the website, by critiquing and commenting on the various design submissions. Each month the Springleap team will choose one community member who has provided the most creative, constructive and consistent critique on designs throughout the month, and who has successfully seeded out his/her comments via various social media. The winner will be crowned King of Comments or Queen of Quotes, and receive a cash prize of US$100 along with 2 Springleap t-shirts to reward his/her efforts.
Dustin, Head of Design at Springleap.com, describes his vision as follows: “I see the current Springleap as a machine that sources design and teaches its sources to produce better design, whilst rewarding them at the same time”.
Eran, co-founder and CEO of Springleap.com, is quoted: "Springleap is about finding ways to reward creativity. The community that supports the designers deserves to be rewarded for excellence in effort and critique. We believe that we have superbly talented designers on Springleap, so we also want our design (in the form of our brand and website) to be better designed and more approachable.”
Springleap’s approach is to put the participants, AKA "the crowd", first. The company aims to gradually provide a more user-friendly and intuitive website with features that specifically help the participator to benefit from it. The new ‘King of Comments, Queen of Quotes’ competition is just the start. Springleap.com will be launching Facebook Connect to allow participants to promote their own and favoured designs amongst their friends and social connections a lot easier than before. Participants will be able to join and log-in using their Facebook details, and share their thoughts and opinions instantly across a large social network.
About Springleap
Springleap.com was launched in 2008 by co-founders and long-standing friends, Eran Eyal and Eric Edelstein, as an online crowdsourcing t-shirt design website. It has since grown into an online design platform that empowers designers from across the globe. Designs for various purposes are sourced through bi-weekly open-theme competitions, as well as ad-hoc competitions sponsored by corporates, brands or bands. Artists submit designs from all around the world to win large cash prizes, royalties and exposure. The public and online community then votes for the top designs, and a seasoned Springleap judge-panel selects the final winner.
