Why Do People Experience Poor Cell Phone Signal?
Great cell phone signal that allow you to make crystal clear phone calls, while enjoying high speed data are becoming more and more scarce in this day and age. There are quite a few reasons as to why this is happening.
Below is a list of the most popular reasons for weak cell signal:
Insulation, thickness of walls that are old stone walls or concrete slab or steel reinforced within any structure are usually the main reasons for unreliable cell phone signal.
Your location. If your property is in an area surrounded by hills, mountains and dense forests like in farming areas and the likes that would be another explanation for your constant lack of cell phone coverage. The same would be true if you were in a rainforest, desert, down in a valley or in a dip and so on.
If you are in a remote area with very little to no network tower (mast) this would justify very poor to no mobile phone coverage.
A wire mesh also known as a Faraday cage is often used in many buildings and this prevents outside static magnetic fields, which means that mobile phone signal cannot pass through. This is another typical, but mostly unknown factor to most for signal loss.

What Is The Area Of Coverage?
If you’re like most people looking to improve your cell phone signal in your home or relatively small office. Our basic 250sqm solutions will be more than enough to cover 2 to 3 small bedrooms that are next to each other with very thin walls or in open plan areas.
If you plan to use any of our solutions outdoors, this can easily be done with any of our boosters, just ensure that your receiving antenna is at least 10 meters away from the donor antenna to avoid any form of interference. Also, an enclosure with a solar panel is recommended to ensure that you don’t allow your system to get any form of water damage etc.
But coming back to basic indoor installations, the main thing to keep in mind is that your outdoor antenna is recommended to be at a reasonable height on top of the roof on a pole pointing in the direction where signal is best and strongest or pointing towards the network mast/tower if at all visible, if not, it’s still fine. Below is a nice diagram to show you how to install
So for a 250sqm solution you can visit the link that follows: https://smartboosters.co.za/product-category/products/coverage-area/up-to-250-sqm/
For single or double storey homes or offices, with thick walls up to 4 bedrooms or 4 medium size office rooms, you’ll need to go for our 500sqm boosters along with some extra distributing antennas, splitters and cables. In other words, you need to create something called a distributed antenna system so that you can spread signal properly in particular rooms and corridors throughout the building. Below is a basic example of how it would look like:
Below is the link to visit for our basic kit for our 500sqm cell phone signal booster range:
https://smartboosters.co.za/product-category/products/coverage-area/up-to-500-sqm/
For double or triple storey properties with multiple walls and 5 to 6 bedrooms or office rooms you’ll want to look at our 1000sqm range on the following link: https://smartboosters.co.za/product-category/products/coverage-area/up-to-1000-sqm/
You’d want to have at least approximately 4 indoor antennas but of course this is only a rough estimate and would usually recommend a site inspection and that we install the solution for you if you wish it to be so. Alternatively, we can offer you guidance via email and over the phone.
Below is an example of how a multi-storey with single then with several rooms should look like:
