VARIWEB: New Opportunities, New Products, Strong Future

The progress of Ren-Form is distinguished by continuity in ownership and diversification of its business. Based in Johannesburg South Africa, Tommy du Sart has always kept its production equipment state-of-the-art in order to meet new demands. The latest step to fuse his position in the forms market, was to purchase a VARIWEB system. The investment shows an uncanny ability to capitalize on an underserviced, profitably growing niche. All this considering, it came at a time when the economic challenges were considerable.

Tommy du Sart bought Ren-Form from its previous owners in 1994 with a hand full of equipment and employees.   From humble beginnings, Tommy and his partner Eric du Sart grew Ren-Form to a  10,000 square-meter facility with 197 employees, various web, sheet-fed presses, 3 digital production printers, 2 8- color web printers, and a number of web collators.

Ren-Form’s market position is primarily supported by its broad product portfolio and the provision of services above and beyond pure production.  This is all thanks to Tommy Du Sart’s continuous market analyses, and early trend recognition that has enabled the company to be at the forefront of technology and development.  Customers include banks, insurance institutions, transport and tourism, industrial, education providers, advertising and entertainment companies, as well as state-run concerns.  With comprehensive warehousing facilities for the storage of products plus the company’s own fleet of vehicles, even the tightest deadlines are always reliably met.

With this passion for technology and the latest trend it goes without saying that Tommy was very keen to introduce the new Variweb web finishing system to the market.  Some of the applications include communication and marketing applications,  integrated cards and peel-offs, loyalty cards, contact-less access cards, pays lips personalized one-part mailers, mailers with integrated reply cards and envelopes, and pop-up pieces, to name a few. It is flexible and modular with the capability to expand and add to a line at any time, as product needs change. At speeds up to 492 feet per minute, the user friendly Variweb is designed with state-of-the-art technology to produce finished pieces with highest quality.

Some other products, which have been highly appreciated, are one-part mailers, wherein one can print the information and address on the same sheet, hence the need for separate envelope is done away with.

With a significant investment in Hunkeler’s Variweb, Tommy has an installed capacity of producing 6 to 7 million customized documents, scratch cards or pays lips per month. With such set-up, Ren-Form offers 360o service in terms of designing, printing, personalisation, variable data printing, numbering, e-fulfilment, dispatch management, etc. Variable data printing has been their forte since long and the Hunkeler’s Variweb has added stimulus to it.
