The Hot Dip Galvanizers Association Southern Africa (HDGASA) is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of end-users, specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators and hot dip galvanizers throughout Southern Africa. Founded in 1965, the Association¿s primary objective is to develop and expand the market for hot dip galvanizing and duplex systems as cost effective corrosion control systems. To further this aim, the Association provides training and information to end users, engineers, consultants, contractors, end-users, specifiers, designers and architects by way of courses, presentations, technical research papers, plant tours and by advisory involvement at the design stage of projects. The HDGASA publishes promotional literature such as our Steel Protection Guide, Design Wall Chart and the ¿Hot Dip Galvanizing Today¿ magazine. On behalf of our Members, the Association liaises with regulatory and standards authorities governing the corrosion control and associated industries. Furthermore, the Association offers an independent inspection service, checking for compliance against the relevant standards.

Markets Serviced Major markets serviced include light and general engineering, mining, rural water, chemical, petro-chemical, automotive, agriculture, water reticulation, building and construction, fire protection and local authorities. In addition the group has a retail outlet at each branch operating under the Stockwell umbrella, a company that has been in existence for 21 years. This Cash and Carry business sells a range of steel, tube and industrial hardware including cutting and grinding discs, abrasives, paint, welding accessories and fasteners. Turnover The Company operates out of 45 000 square metres of warehouse throughout the country with inventory levels being in the region of R100 million. Stewarts and Lloyds employs over 450 people. Product Range The countrywide network of branches has consistently offered a comprehensive range of steel, structural tube, pipes and fittings, valves, pumps and irrigation equipment to the major industrial sectors throughout South Africa and other countries. Growth In celebrating its centenary, the company, now privately owned, having been purchased by Stockwell from Barloworld in 2002, is pleased to announce good growth in all products in the extensive range.
