Types of Resorts

A resort is a holiday or tourist attraction destination used for mainly relaxation and recreation purpose with various entertainment facilities. Resorts are mainly located outside cities which make an ideal gateway from the busy hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Resorts are self-contained commercial establishments or hotel property mainly operated by a single company which attempts to provide for vacationer’s needs like food, drinks, accommodation, sports, entertainment, gaming facilities, shopping, kids’ zone etc.  Depending on the location whether the resort is located by the sea side or in mountains etc. a resort may be classified as a seaside resort, mountain resort, ski resort, island resort or even resort towns where vacationing or tourism is the main local activity.

Based on offerings resorts can be of the following types:
Destination Resort: A destination resort by itself is the main source of tourist attraction i.e. the resortwithinit contains necessary guest attraction capabilities. At a destination resort there are facilities like recreational areas, mouthwatering delicacies, drinks, lodging with all modern amenities, entertainment along with gaming and casino, and shopping facilities all within the resort premises so that guests have no need to leave the resort area throughout the day while remaining entertained and relaxed.

All-Inclusive Resort: An all-inclusive resort charges a fixed price that includes all the amenities that a resort provides like lodging, unlimited food, drinks, sport activities, as well as recreational activities.In respect to meals, generally all-inclusive resorts offer three meals daily and drinksboth soft and alcoholic drinks. All-inclusive resorts are very popular and sought after locations for destination weddings.

Recreation or Spa Resort: A recreationor aspa resortis a short term lodging facility with the primary purpose of providing spa or health related facilities. Many such resorts were built at the location of natural hot springs, or near other sources of mineral water. Spa resorts provide complete spa services including physical fitness programmes, health and wellness education, healthy diet, yoga classes etc.

Golf Resort: Resorts that are specifically built to cater to the sport of golf are known as golf resorts. Such resorts are so made that they have access to one or more golf courses and club houses. Golf resorts mainly offers special packages which includes golf gaming and cart fees, range balls, accommodation and meals. Similarly Ski Resorts caters to tourists who go for skiing holiday in snow-clad mountains.
