I am on the Specialist Register in South Africa and the United Kingdom. I diagnose and treat mental, emotional and behavioural disorders including Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder and Substance Misuse. My psychiatric qualification was obtained in the UK where I completed a 6 year programme. This included child psychiatry and the psychiatry of old age. My training also included work in highly specialised teams that managed the early diagnosis and treatment of psychotic illnesses and individuals in crisis. I have served as consultant to various teams including a "Crisis Resolution/Home Treatment Team" and have set up and run "Memory Clinics" specialising in the early diagnosis and treatment of memory problems/dementia. My approach incorporates evidence based medical and psychological insights and I believe in shared decision making after having discussed the pros and cons of available treatments with my patients.
