Description
Changing lives through beautiful, locally made products that empower women to flourish and bloom, right here in the Garden Route.
Wild Mongoo’s Vision is to transform vulnerability to ABILITY by empowering women trapped in poverty, prostitution and abuse by providing psychological, spiritual, economic, and medical care as well as skills training.
When you support our business, you contribute to the empowerment of these vulnerable women and allow them the opportunity to
Flourish and Bloom. Once these women have been upskilled, we work together to design and produce on-trend and stylish products. We then use our marketplace to share their products with the world and thus providing them with an income and livelihood.
Our team and volunteers regularly hit the streets — meeting women right where they are. We reach out to the most vulnerable of the vulnerable, offering a warm meal, a kind word, and a hand of friendship. From there, we invite them into the Wild Mongoo sisterhood — a place of hope, healing, and fresh beginnings.
We offer a strong circle of emotional support, starting with our in-house team of professional counsellors who provide a safe space for women to work through past trauma and hurt. We also partner with outside specialist counsellors — from addiction recovery to trauma care — ensuring every woman gets the help she needs. Plus, we invest in our team leaders through counselling training, equipping them to offer support with empathy, strength, and understanding.
We equip our women with the tools to thrive, starting with expert-led financial management training that teaches them how to budget, save, and take control of their money. Each woman also completes the B.E.S.T Small Business Training, where she learns how to kickstart her own sustainable business and step into the world of entrepreneurship.
For those who show leadership potential, we go even further — offering training in leadership, service excellence, sales, computer literacy, and health & safety. They also attend courses in human trafficking awareness, self-defence, counselling, literacy, and further education — because we believe in building confident, skilled, and unstoppable women ready to take on the world.
Our team who are experts in various fields, provide training to upskill our women. They start with basic skills such as learning to bead and once they’ve mastered this, they move on to more difficult tasks such as learning to sew. We continually upskill each woman according to her gifting. When they have successfully completed the training, we strive to assist them in finding employment within their newly developed sphere of skills.
We’re so grateful to have amazing medical partners walking this journey with us. The wonderful team from Door of Hope, a medical ministry, regularly visits the women in our upskilling program to provide basic medical care, as well as practical advice on health and nutrition. And when a woman joins us, we make sure her vision is crystal clear — thanks to The Visionary optometrist in George, who helps us provide eye tests and support for better sight and brighter futures.
While we dream of one day building a pink village — a vibrant haven of safety and healing for women and their children who’ve faced abuse or human trafficking — that dream is still blooming. But for now, we’ve been incredibly blessed to secure a nearby flat close to our studio, offering a safe place for women coming off the streets to rest, recover, and rebuild as they find their feet again.
Thanks to the generous hearts at Soft Landings Foundation (a local non-profit), we’re able to provide nourishing food packs to the women in our program who need it most. These packs are filled with the goodness their bodies need and are always received with grateful smiles. And because no one should face the day on an empty tummy, we make sure lunch is available for anyone who comes without.
2025 is the year we brew up something bold — Coffee with a Cause, our very own coffee shop. While our hearts are big enough to hold a thousand women, our finances haven’t quite caught up. So we’re launching this empowering initiative to help us reach more women and turn our dream of supporting 1,000 women into a reality.
Because every cup can spark change — one sip, one story, one woman at a time.
We’ve launched a glow-up empowerment program where women learn the art of manicures and pedicures. Once they’ve nailed the basics and completed the Wild Fire Business Training, we step in to help them set up their own home-based nail businesses with all the tools they need to succeed.
And in 2025, we’re taking it up a notch — expanding into lashes and all things beauty. Because let’s be real... all girls like nice things, and we're here to help them build beautiful futures, one brushstroke at a time. 💅✨
