This is particularly relevant to the coast of Southern Africa. By having the filming team based in South Africa, an efficient and cost effective schedule can be drawn up to cover the ever-changing environment.
Our contacts with environmental protection agencies and the scientific community have been built up over many years. There are a number of scientists working in South Africa on various shark and mammal species, fish, squid, oceanography, climatology etc. that can enhance the content of a documentary. We have a good working relationship with Marine and Coastal Management who issue marine related filming permits. For example, Underwater Video Services is presently the sole holder of a filming permit for southern right whales. We are presently working on other proposals with the authorities.
By being based in South Africa, we can assist with budget preparation, equipment sourcing, permits and other logistical issues efficiently, thereby cutting costs.
