Top Shots Saloon, Boksburg

We’ve been going to Topshots for years, and even after moving further away two years ago, we still made the effort to come back regularly. Even when the food quality declined, we kept supporting the venue because of what it used to be. Today, however, was a final straw. We specifically visited because Taye was performing — my daughter absolutely loves her, and we’ve always enjoyed her music. Despite being clearly unwell, just out of hospital, and heavily pregnant, she performed beautifully with such warmth and professionalism. She truly deserves recognition for that. Unfortunately, the experience was completely overshadowed by two extremely intoxicated men, who appeared to be regulars. One in particular made repeated, inappropriate and offensive comments towards Taye — not only disrespectful to a performer, but completely unacceptable given that she is visibly pregnant. The situation made everyone in the outside area deeply uncomfortable, to the point where at least three tables got up and left. I personally raised the issue multiple times, sent messages, and asked for assistance. The table next to us also raised the issue, and we even indicated that we would leave and not return. Despite this, no meaningful action was taken, and the individual was allowed to continue. He moved inside, where his behaviour escalated to the point that Taye was left in tears. What is most concerning is that one intoxicated regular seemed to be prioritised over the comfort, safety, and experience of multiple tables — as well as the wellbeing of a pregnant performer. As a parent, I didn’t even feel comfortable allowing my daughter to walk to the bathroom past him. I do want to acknowledge that the waiters and the manager, Jacques, appeared to try assist within their limits. However, it felt as though their hands were tied. This experience was deeply disappointing and honestly upsetting. After years of loyalty, I never expected to feel this unsafe and disregarded as a customer. I sincerely hope the owners take this seriously, because no family, guest, or performer should be put in a situation like this. At this stage, I don’t see myself returning anytime soon.
