Description
Through initial funding provided by the Fund for a Free South Africa (FREESA) and Research and Applications of Alternative Financing for Development (RAFAD), TIGF together with its US partner Shared Interest (SI), seeks to promote social change by encouraging banks to lend to low-income people from historically disadvantaged communities for selfsustainable projects.

TIGF considers each application on its own merits and issues guarantees that are ‘tailor-made’ to fit the specific requirements of the applicant and, are designed to support endborrower organisations and also retail financial institutions which, in turn, lend to organisations seeking to provide jobs, secure housing, adequate healthcare and education, alleviate poverty, unemployment and, to promote gender and youth empowerment.
