Description
Located on the bank of the North End Lake, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is the first football stadium in the area. The venue was recently built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Construction works were completed a year before the beginning of the greatest sports event in the world, an important moment in the history of the city.
Company description
The ground will be home to the third place match and a quarter-final from the eight matches of the FIFA World Cup. An exceptional roof structure was constructed to complete the stadium and have an amazing view all along to the North End Lake.
The Eastern Province rugby union or EPRU Stadium hosted the international football matches until the construction of this new ground was finished. While the playing field is covered with natural grass, the surrounding area is of artificial turf. One of the first events that took place at the new stadium was the so called Soweto Derby with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The special event attracted many fans in South Africa.
