Description

Lusikisiki is in the Eastern Cape - the Pondo stretch of the Wild Coast line - with its exceptional scenic beauty, with features such as undulating hills in a mist-covered setting, where breathtaking waterfalls spill over the deep gorges of the Magwa and Fraser falls. Some of the features are the Magwa Tea Estate and unspoilt open beaches, which are our major tourist attractions and destinations. This warm part of the Indian Ocean is a renowned Mecca for its natural rolling hills, traditions, cultural heritage and is a sub-tropical paradise. You will find tranquility, fresh air, vast open spaces and a fascinating array of green landscapes 16 km down to the coast. It is this natural bounty that has inspired Sam Mcebisi Gabula to settle and work in Hombe Administration Authority.

Company description

My paintings reflect the grandeur of the land and seascape, and grassroots women pursuing their cultural duties. My paintings contain impressionistic elements in their simplest forms, characterized by unhurried brush strokes and vibrant colours. Our exquisitely hand-painted fabrics product range comprises t-shirts, table cloths, wall -hangings, cushions, table runners, place mats and designs for dress making et cetera.

From 1986-1990, I became the first Black person to be admitted to the Ruth Prowse School of Art in Cape Town. This is where I obtained a Higher Diploma in Fine Arts and Designing. I see myself as a person who reaches across the cultural divide, who has experienced cultural shock and who has rediscovered my identity as a result. I envision cultural integration, which I already perceive to be occurring in the democratic South Africa. My art is the expression of a desire to marry the many divergent peoples and cultures of a fractured and previously-divided land. I am a living testament to the ability of some persons to forget about the hostility of the past. Art work is a vehicle to promote love, peace, tolerance, unity, joy and prosperity for all citizens.
