Quarry and Mining Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd currently acts as the head office to four separate companies, Willowsfountain Quarry (Pty) Ltd, Tzaneen Quarry (Pty) Ltd, Quarry & Mining and Correct Business Brokers II CC. It is envisaged that in time Tzaneen and Willowsfountain Quarry will be amalgamated into one holding company, Quarry and Mining Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
Owned and established by Ian Laird and Peter Hammond, these businesses have enjoyed sustained success in the very competitive industry of contract and commercial crushing of aggregates for the construction industry.
Quarry and Mining Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd employs in excess of 160 people throughout South Africa.
Company description
Quarry and Mining Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd recognises the need for greater representation of previously disadvantaged persons in the mining industry. In keeping with the mining charter as released by the government Quarry and Mining is committed to acquiring an empowerment partner by the end of 2005. The company is presently in advanced negotiations and an announcement is expected soon.
The trend amongst large multi national companies globally are to return to their core competencies and either sell off or shut down non-core or non-profitable operations. One of the casualties of this process has been the selling off and shutting down of crushing operations amongst the larger construction companies within South Africa . Quarry and Mining Group Holdings has been well placed to pick up where the civil contractors left off. This has resulted in us becoming a popular choice amongst the civil contractors for the production of aggregates. It is our intention to mobilise further plant and equipment in order that we may meet the growing demand for
aggregates and in so doing, become the preferred supplier amongst the large contractors for the supply of road stone and concrete aggregates.
