Description
The Oldest theatre in Africa, designed by George William Scott, London.
The aim of The Opera House Development Policy is to enable all those involved in theatre, and all those wishing to make theatre their careers, to produce high quality work. Work that will touch the hearts and engage the minds of a greater number and a wider range of people than is currently the case.
Company description
The Opera House Board accepts it has a responsibility to its constituents and stakeholders to foster an awareness of the performing arts in this region. As the headquarters of the arts, it should aim to rectify historic imbalances and nurture development which is researched and executed with excellence. It should at all times maintain this responsibility of fostering a love of the performing arts and encouraging, empowering, enhancing and spreading knowledge, skills, and special interest related to the performing arts amongst the public, cultural communities, artists and those who possess the necessary talents to produce quality South African products.
