Magnetic Electrical (Pty) Ltd, was established in 1984, as a manufacturer and supplier of transformers and associated magnetic equipment to the industry. In 1986, we started manufacturing traction battery chargers for the material handeling industry. Apart from Africa, we have supplied chargers to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand and Dubai, but to name a few.

In the early 1990's, we, together with Aberdare Cables and Eskom, developed what is known as The Intermediate Voltage System for Rural Electrification. This system was developed mainly for rural housing, but has expanded into farming, game farms, telecommunications and numerous other applications. We have supplied these transformers throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and the Seychelles.

In 1996 we developed our MP9000 Thyristor Controlled battery chargers. This was done to :

1. Combat the serious mains fluctuations we experience in Southern Africa.
2. Assist the battery and forklift companies by offering a full 5 Year / 1500 Cycle warranty on this range of battery chargers for their 60 month rentals.
3. Prevent the high cost of battery charger maintenance.
4. To enable the customer to have peace of mind when purchasing electric machines, ie. The battery charger is a " Fit and Forget " item.

Due to technologial advancements over the past few years and with global trends moving towards high frequency battery chargers, we decided to start manufacturing our own, locally made high frequency battery chargers. We manufacture all major components in house, enabling us to fulfill our obligations, when it comes to qualtity, costing and delivery, as there are no exchange rate fluctuations or import delays.

We also supply transformers and battery chargers to the Mining industry. At present we manufacture the heavy current components of the 64 Cell, 1000 and 1600 A/H battery chargers to many of the market leaders, who manufacture Coal mining scoops and battery chargers for the coal mining industry.
