KAWAI is located in Japan, in the city of Hamamatsu. Founded in 1927 by Koichi Kawai, the first person to design and build a piano action in Japan, KAWAI remains a family company. The current President, Hirotaka Kawai, is the grandson of the founder.
The company that began in a tiny workshop in Hamamatsu, Japan with 7 men, is now one of the biggest Music Corporations in the world. KAWAI pianos are found in major Concert Halls around the world and have won numerous awards for design and manufacturing standards.
