Description
The Jungle Theatre Company (JTC) was formed and performed freedom celebration carnivals in Johannesberg.
Company description
JTC was funded by the Foundation for Creative Arts to create ‘One Country, One Picnic’.
Toured Johannesburg, Mpumalanga, Bloemfontein and Cape Town with street theatre about elements.
JTC was funded by The National Arts Council (NAC) to create 'Gum Dance Boots' about aliens who learn to gumboot dance. It toured streets and schools.
The environmental education show 'Jungle Jive' was launched at the Manyanani Peace Park in Khayelitsha and it has been successfully performed in 40 schools in the Western Cape townships.
This was due mostly to the generous funding from The Green Trust, Syfretts Trust Limited, The JDI group, The City of Cape Town, Golden Arrow Foundation and the ever-present support of Abalimi Bezekhaya.
