HOSPICE PHILOSOPHY
St Bernard's Hospice affirms life & regards dying as a normal process. It is a philosophy, more than a place and neither hastens nor postpones death, but strives to maintain quality of life to the end.
It is characterized by concern for symptom control, relief of pain, promotion of general well-being, and spiritual comfort for the dying.
The patient and family are the focus of St Bernard's Hospice, with the emphasis placed on the
well-being of family caregivers, as well as the patient.
Hospice recognizes grief as a normal response to loss, and provides support to the families during this time.
