Harvest Christian School, Gqeberha

The school is located in the city of Port Elizabeth within the Nelson Mandela Metropole on the southeast coast of South Africa. It was founded under the covering of Harvest Christian Church in 1987 and, shortly thereafter, was officially registered by the Education Department as a not-for-profit independent school in terms of the Private Schools Act of 1986.

The Founding Principal, Tersia de Necker, and the Founding Pastor, Ivan Vorster, have been honoured with the two houses for the annual Interhouse Competitions and Festivals being named after them, namely De Necker House and Vorster House.

After starting with just 18 learners back in 1987, Harvest now has an enrolment of over 400. We currently employ a full staff complement in excess of 50 academic, administrative and support personnel. Our small class sizes and low pupil to teacher ratios guarantee individual attention from our dedicated and qualified staff. Learners are thus able to optimally develop their acquired knowledge and skills within a caring community environment.

As a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), we are actively involved with the latest developments and trends in Christian education globally. Delegates from Harvest regularly attend ACSI national conferences whilst back home we host and facilitate regional training meetings.

An elected School Board and the appointed Headmaster govern the school. The Board is concerned with policy protocols and ends, while the School Executive, consisting of the Headmaster and the three School Principals, manages the day to day running of the school with the support of each school's own Management Team.
