Description

Glamosa is proud to have been the first company to produce glass mosaic in South Africa. The company commenced business in January 1958 from a small factory at Elandsfontein, near Germiston. Production methods and skills were based on renowned Italian 'know-how' in the manufacture of colourful glass mosaic.

Company description

Demand for glass mosaic increased and with rapid growth in the market Glamosa's business expanded. In 1970 a new factory was built at Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal, and the company head office moved to Johannesburg. During that period Glamosa also began exporting quality glass mosaic to many overseas countries, whilst still concentrating on supplying the domestic market in South Africa.

In later years ownership of the company changed and the company entered a new era in its history. Production methods were improved and processes expanded. In 1980 the company started manufacturing a new range of lampware glass products, including many blown, pressed and spun products. Glamosa specialises in production of opaline (white) and flint (clear) glass lampware items. Production processes incorporate machine-made semi-automated products, and due to popular demand Glamosa also produces an extensive range of handmade mouth-blown glassware items, including candle shades, jars and vases.

Today Glamosa Glass provides permanent employment to 130 employees. The company has built and carefully maintains a solid reputation for producing and supplying quality glass products at competitive prices, always backed by excellent service and reliability.
