Dr Dirk Lazarus, Cape Town

I am a Fellow of the South African College of Surgeons, registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a specialist Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon (equivalent of board certified). I am a member of the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of South Africa and of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. I have been in private practice since 1998. My practice is almost exclusively cosmetic plastic surgery and cleft lip and palate surgery.
I graduated from medical school in 1985 and attained my fellowship in Plastic Surgery in 1997. I have been practicing Plastic Surgery since 1994 and have been in my own private practice since 1998. My training was at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital (the venue of the world's first heart transplant). I have maintained links with the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Cape Town and I am actively involved in teaching, training and research. I have published and presented both locally and internationally on a variety of aspects of plastic surgery. Although the main emphasis of my private practice is on cosmetic surgery, I head the Cleft Lip and Palate Unit at the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town.
