Description
Culmpine Bonsmaras were awarded the title of Top Herd in the Limpopo Province for 2008, and again for 2009 in the annual ARC competition. Having been in the Top 10 for the last 11 consecutive years, our dedication to maintaining a herd of the very best quality has paid off in the form of this prestigious award. We currently have 120 breeding females, with an average Inter Calving Period (ICP) of 369 days, proving fertility over and over again.

Located in the shadow of the Waterberg mountains near Vaalwater, Limpopo, Culmpine offers ideal conditions for raising cattle.
Culmpine Estate has been under Farrant family management for 4 generations. In the early 20th Century, Afrikander cattle were run on the farm. At that time wheat, maize, and tobacco were produced under irrigation. The Afrikander herd was used as the basis to breed up the current Bonsmara Stud Herd.
In addition to breeding Bonsmara cattle, Culmpine Estate currently exports lemons and oranges to all parts of the world.
The Bonsmara cattle currently making up the herd at Culmpine Estate can trace their ancestry back to the Afrikander cattle with which the farm was stocked in the early 1900’s. Through the best possible genetics, as well as a strict selection policy, the functional efficiency of the herd is improved on an on-going basis.
At Culmpine we match the top Bonsmara sires and dams and, though AI, ensure an incredibly high quality stud animal. This careful planning has earned Culmpine Bonsmaras a place in the ARC’s annual competition for Top 10 Herds in the Irene sub-region, and recently the Limpopo Province, for 10 consecutive years.
