Description
The Blackburn's fell in love with Cranford the moment they set their eyes on it some years ago. As if fated they eventually purchased the place of their dreams and moved in at the beginning of April 2007. They started immediately to restore Cranford to its former glory and now, 14 months later and with a great deal of TLC, this magical, peaceful place in the heart of the Midlands is looking fantastic.
Richard had been serving as an officer in the Royal Horse Artillery and Debbie, a trained Cordon Bleu Chef, had run her own catering company. They pursued their interest and expertise in the hospitality industry managing a corporate lodge for many years and eventually owning their own Guesthouse in Hilton.
Company description
Cranford Country Lodge has five luxury Bed & Breakfast cottages, set in a pristine forest, overlooking a magnificent trout dam (Suites 9 to 14). In addition to this there are lovely family cottages as well as comfortable en-suite rooms.
Our self catering accommodation at Cranford consists of one three bedroomed, en-suite stone thatch cottage, overlooking one of the dams on the property as well as the swimming pool. We have 2 additional self catering cottages that seep 4 guests each, all overlooking the estate. All of these cottages come fully equipped with kitchen, lounge area, DSTV and braai facilities.
The Blackburn family has maintained their interest in horses and has created the Cranford Stud with a foundation herd of Appaloosas headed by their magnificent leopard spotted stallion Rio Grande . The first crop of foals are frolicking in the pastures surrounding Cranford. Cranford is now offering Horse Trails on Special appaloosas, Basotho's and Thoroughbreds that will be available under Richard's supervision and guidance to explore the beautiful Midlands countryside. Richard is also available for riding lessons of all ages and standards in the new sand arena at Cranford.
