Once an old fisherman''s cottage, Birkenhead Manor Boutique Guest House, purpose built in the traditional Cape Dutch style with its warm sunshine colours offers guests luxurious comfortable accommodation accentuated with touches of shipwreck history.The Manor is within easy reach of central Cape Town and its many tourist attractions including Table Mountain, The Victoria and Albert Waterfront and Cape Point nature reserve; and is also within easy access to the famed Wine Routes of the Cape and the West Coast, which combines excellent fishing, natural parks and whale watching. A Virgin Active gym and two excellent golf courses are within a few minutes drive.With its own brand of local hospitality, the Birkenhead Manor is the ideal venue of both leisure and business travellers.
Company description
Cape heritage and shipping artworks are found throughout the homestead and its ten elegant en-suite rooms. Each spacious room furnished with either King-size, Queen-size or twin beds, is tastefully decorated and equipped with a television, mini-bar, digital safe, desk and chairs, heated towel rails, hairdryer, bathroom amenities, and bathroom towels. The beautiful conservatory area overlooking the garden is the perfect venue where guests can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast. The manor also boasts a sunny dining room where home-made South African cooking can be enjoyed. The friendly atmosphere of the lounge and cosy bar provides an ideal area in which to relax and enjoy a drink or plan outings to one of the many local restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas or outdoor activities. For the more energetic or those wanting to take advantage of the sunny South African weather, a large sparkling pool overlooking the attractive and tranquil garden offers hours of outdoor entertainment. The Guest House is wi fi enabled offering free internet access in all rooms and public areas. A desktop computer is also made available for the use of guests.
Foreign language description
The Birkenhead is a mere seven minute walk from the beach, with all it has to offer. For the adrenaline junkies there's windsurfing, kiteboarding and jetskiing. For the more passive, there are long scenic walks, fishing or simply soaking up the sun on the beach. There are a wide variety of restaurants along the beachfront. Enjoy sundowners and the views over the ocean to Table Mountain while you dine. Have a drink at one of the traditional English pubs in the area, or socialise in one of the local South African beach type bars. There are two shopping centres within walking distance from the guesthouse if you want to do a bit of shopping. Catch a movie at the Bayside Shopping Centre, a ten minute walk from the guesthouse. If you enjoy bird watching, the Rietvlei Wetland Reserve has a bird-hide. It is perfectly positioned for the best viewing of small migrant waders. The dunes along the seaside of the reserve provide an excellent vantage point for whale-watching in the winter months. Remember to take your camera as the views across the bay to Table Mountain make Rietvlei a photographer's paradise.
