Bathurst Primary School

Welcome to The Bathurst Primary School, officially the oldest known running primary school in Southern Africa The original building, according to 1820 maps, shows the land to be "Gov Camp and lot 64, leased to the school" Rev Boardman started the church school in the Old Drosty, and moved the school to it's current location in 1827, when it was known as the Bathurst Grammar and Mathematical School In 1830, there were 51 scholars at the school After all these years, our vision has and will always be to offer quality public education that transforms our pupils into better human beings who promote and contribute shared moral values, good governance and sustainable development We hope to continue to constructively contribute to the vision.
