In the past decade, Arup has contributed to the growth of prestigious holiday accommodation in the form of luxury apartment buildings such as The Pearls in Umhlanga, and many of the mixed-use developments now springing up around city and province.

Arup has provided consultancy services on a number of aspects of the 2010 Soccer World Cup; and in Durban has been appointed to lead the planning and implementation of the Transportation Operational Plan for the city.

Arup are the interchange design architects on the new commuter station, which forms part of an existing rail network and is one of the main feeder stations into the new Moses Mabhida Stadium which will be hosting many of the events.
