Rated as the world’s highest gorge swing, this activity starts with you trembling uncontrollably at the edge of Lehr’s Waterfall, safely secured to the ropes by a full body harness. It then requires you to step (or if the bug has already bitten you, DIVE) off the edge to fall an astounding 33 storeys into a 100 metre arc, accelerating to a speed of 120km/hour in 2.5 seconds! The multiple pendulum swings that follow eventually bring you to a halt, and you float cloudlike above the forest floor, as the winch brings you back to the receiving arms of the instructor. Oribi Gorge stretches like a gaping yawn across the thick forest-like face of Oribi Flats, and simply staring into these depths causes a quickening of the pulse. You don’t need to be an adrenalin junkie to acknowledge the pleasure of challenging your limitations.
