Mareli Fischer holds a Masters degree in Clinical and Community Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch, and a research Masters degree (Cum Laude) from the University of Cape Town. She is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (PS 0117811). She is practising in Claremont, at the Claremont Practice. She completed her internship and community service with the South African Department of Defence (SANDF), where she worked at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg, and Health Centre Youngsfield . During her time at the SANDF she formed part of the hospital's Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Clinic, a multi-disciplinary team who specifically work with ADHD, autism and behavioural disorders in children, as well as cognitive assessments and school-readiness. Mareli is currently registered to do her doctorate at the University of Cape Town, specifically looking at the functional impairment of South African children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She founded the ADHD research team at UCT in 2008, during her Honours, and has been involved with this topic ever since. In July of this year she will be attending the European Congrex of Psychology in Stockholm, Sweden to present her work in this field.
