Free State Residential Care Centre is a NGO for individuals age 18-70 with Intellectual Disability. Our vision is to become a centre of excellence. In our workshops our vision is teach beneficiaries a skill within a workshop in order for them to be placed in sheltered employment in the Open Labour Market of Bloemfontein. Currently we have a 140 residents and 25 dayworkers. Our workshops include: • Woodwork (Making of Strikdas, Toys, Blitzz Packs for braai) • Needlework (Contract work for AFBOB, Dog Cushions and knitting products) • Craft workshop (Making of cards etc) • Laundry Room (Washing clothes and marking clothes) • Maintenance and Garden work • Bakery workshop Every year we have two markets, a winter market (in June) and a Christmas market (in November). At these markets we showcase our workshop products that is handmade by each of our beneficiaries. Aside from the work groups, beneficiaries can also participate in sports and social activities such as athletics, singing and dancing.
