Upon hearing the news of my scheduled trip on Atlantic Adventure’s “fastest commercial boat trip in the world,” I was over the moon. Eager to share the experience, I enthusiastically
asked a couple of co-workers to tag along as supposed “models” for the purpose of taking hotos.
However, showing them some descriptive pictures of the boat’s capabilities, my colleagues suddenly had other plans. They conjured up some half-hearted excuse and scurried off!
back to their lonely workspaces and mountains of paperwork. It’s their loss, I say! Junkies like myself won’t miss out on even the slightest opportunity for a quick fix.
It was a spectacular Friday morning in the Mother City when I met the operators at the V&A Waterfront’s swingbridge situated near the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island. With hospitable weather and a flat, translucent water surface, the prospect of a high-speed boat ride on the open ocean seemed like a good one.
Atlantic Adventures, owned by Evan D’Arcy, offers an hour of exhilarating action-packed eco-adventure on a boat ride around Cape Town’s unspoilt coastline. I tagged along with a group enjoying some corporate team-building, and although they appeared slightly nervous, their excitement was palpable.
Experienced skipper Llewellyn Lategan said they offer several corporate events like sunset cruises, team-building parties and even the odd bachelor celebration.”Numerous companies send their workers to us for a team-building experience,” said Lategan. Who knew that a rush of adrenaline could increase one’s productivity at work? Go figure…
